What is conflict coaching?
Conflict coaching is a one-on-one session designed to help individuals explore a conflict or challenging relationship with the goal of strategizing ways to productively address, manage, or resolve the issue.
When mediation or facilitation are not options, either because the other party(ies) are unwilling to talk, unavailable, or just unresponsive, conflict coaching is a great way to explore what you can do on your own to address the situation.
The conflict coach does not tell you how to solve the problem. Instead, the conflict coach listens deeply and asks powerful questions to help you discover your own ways of moving forward. Unlike venting to a friend or colleague, the conflict coach is trained and experienced in helping individuals to feel heard, understand the situation more fully, broaden their perspective, and brainstorm feasible ways of moving forward in a productive way.
